It has been a long wait for Buckeye fans in regards to who would be the next in the class of 2013 to commit, but Buckeye Nation finally has their answer.
In a somewhat surprising move, Urban Meyer has accepted the commitment of punter Johnny Townsend of Boone High School in Orlando, Florida. Townsend is regarded as one of the best in his trade in the country, and was recently named the top punter at the Alabama camp this summer, as well as the fourth-best punter in the nation by Kohl's Kicking Camp.
At 6-2/200 Townsend not only has good size, but his highlight reel says he can run the forty in 4.5 seconds, bench 260 lbs, and has a vertical leap of 33", meaning he has great athleticism and speed that can contribute in the special teams game.
Townsend becomes the 12th member of Ohio State's recruiting class of 2013 and stops the bleeding a bit after the Bucks saw two decommitments and a dry period in verbal pledges occur in late spring through early summer.
Things are expected to pick up in the coming months with camps underway and more prospects taking visits, but for now Buckeye fans can enjoy some good news on the recruiting front in the form of a future special teamer.
