After Alameda Ta’amu tees off on Alex Boone's face, an Ohio State – Michigan war broke out on the sidelines, between Boone and his head coach. At some point this week, Ta’amu will probably be fined.
If you ask Steelers fans (assuming you're friendly enough with a Steelers fan. If so, why?), they might tell you Mike Adams should be fined for his poor play. Coach Mike Tomlin settled for benching and deactivating him, Sunday.
A former Ohio State safety joined him on the Pittsburgh roster, after getting cut by Dallas. Two Buckeyes found a new home, as well, while one got cut by New Orleans – again.
Ted Ginn electrified football fans, but in a different manner than we're used to.
Eleven Warriors doesn’t have an official award for the best performance of the week. If we did, it would go to A.J. Hawk. We recap his big day and have stats from all former Buckeyes in the NFL.
Adams benched
Unless Mike Adams enjoys Ben Roethlisberger getting buried into the ground as much as the rest of us, his whiffing on blocks has finally caught up to him.
The Steelers acquired tackle Levi Brown from the Cardinals, paving the way for not only Adams’ benching, but also his absence from the active roster for Sunday’s game.
Even former Pittsburgh coach and Satan’s spokesperson Bill Cowher is frustrated by Adams’ play.
"Some need to be pushed, prodded; others need a pat on the back. I don't know where he falls," Cowher told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "There's talent there and you just find a way to get it out of him on a regular basis."
Roster shakeups
Three former Buckeyes have a new home, while one is looking for another place to land.
The Cowboys benched safety Will Allen after week two, and cut him this past week. He recovered quickly, signing with the Steelers only two days after Dallas let him go.
It’s his second stint in Pittsburgh. The Huber Heights, Ohio native played three seasons there, before heading to Dallas in the offseason.
"I am very grateful to be back," Allen told Steelers.com “It was tough to leave. I am grateful to come back and be around such a wonderful group of people. That’s what it’s about.”
Daniel "Boom" Herron spent training camp with the Bengals, who placed him on the practice squad before the season began. With injuries to running backs Lawrence Vickers and Ahmad Bradshaw, the Colts plucked Herron from the Bengals and placed him on their active roster.
A sixth round draft pick in 2012, Herron has four career carries for five yards.
Injuries – particularly to Julio Jones’ foot – forced the Falcons to explore the free-agent market for another wideout. Their wide receivers coach, Terry Robiskie, must have been pleased when Atlanta brought in Brian Robiskie.
The former Browns, Jaguars and Lions receiver has 43 career receptions for 485 yards and four touchdowns.
Ex-Buckeye lineman turned NFL linebacker Jay Richardson was not as lucky, this week. The Saints cut him after he played a limited amount of snaps this season. New Orleans waived him before the season, but brought him back in week two.
Highlight of the week
Instead juking a defender out of his shoes, Ted Ginn opts to get a little more physical on a Brandon LaFell 79-yard touchdown:
