In recruiting, it is never too early to get a jump start on a particular class year. More than a dozen offers have already gone out for the 2017 class, and Ohio State already has one commitment in Danny Clark.

Class of 2017 wide receiver Trevon Grimes, who plays for St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Florida, picked up an offer from Ohio State after an impressive showing at Friday Night Lights.

Grimes, who was recently named to the MaxPreps.com sophomore preseason All-American Team, has been on Ohio State's radar for a long time before receiving the offer. He recently visited Ohio State and came away more than impressed.

When asked what he loves most about Ohio State, Grimes said it was the atmosphere. "I got to check out the facilities and meet the coaches. I sat down with Coach Smith and Coach Meyer for a while about the program and how Ohio State could be my new home."

After participating in the camp, Grimes said Friday Night Lights was a good experience and he especially enjoyed meeting the head lady.

"The best part of the camp was getting to shake hands with Urban Meyer's wife, Shelley," Grimes said. "Meeting her was a blessing and not everyone got that chance. Coach Meyer called me out of a drill, brought me over to her, and introduced us."

And just when you thought Urban was the top recruiter in his household.

Grimes has had a lot of help along the way in his recruitment from teammates at St. Thomas Aquinas who are now going through the process. Some of his high-profile teammates include Devante Peete, Sam Bruce, Jordan Scarlett and Nick Bosa. According to Grimes, they have been helping him to be patient throughout the process and take it slowly.

Bruce, who recently committed to play football at Miami, has been the biggest help. They are good friends and Sam has been a mentor to Grimes on how to handle the process. He also hopes to become better friends with Bosa, the younger brother of Ohio State defensive end Joey Bosa. "It definitely helps a lot that these guys are going through this process right now," Grimes said.

There is still a long, long way to go in Trevon Grimes' recruitment; he is a sophomore and he has no timetable for a decision. Nevertheless, Ohio State is his leader and it's always best to be out in front, no matter how early in the process.

One school that fans hope Urban Meyer creates a pipeline with is St. Thomas Aquinas. They are, year in and year out, the best high school football team in the nation, while sending most of their players to some of the best Division I football programs.  With Joey Bosa already here and Ohio State being the favorites for Nick Bosa and Trevon Grimes, St. Thomas Aquinas could become one of Urban Meyer's biggest pipelines.
