The Recruiting Game is Getting Out of Control

Maybe recruiting is getting a little out of hand?

Today, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish added a commitment from Orlando's Parker Boudreaux, who claims more offers in the 2016 recruiting cycle than any player, at any position, in the entire country. The 6-foot-4, 287-pound offensive lineman will likely be a guard at Notre Dame, where he joins a pair of Ohioans (Tommy Kraemer and Liam Eichenberg) in an impressive offensive line group. The verbal moved Notre Dame up eight spots in the team recruiting rankings, from 31st to 23rd, nationally.

However...

It's not the fact that Boudreaux committed to Notre Dame today that's the news. Most people "in the know" expected the Irish to be the pick for some time. No, it was the decision by Boudreaux, and the fine folks at Bleacher Report, to have the burly lineman pull a 16,000-pound bus, which – when moved – revealed an imposed Notre Dame logo beneath it, that has caught people's attention.

I have a number of questions, but will leave most of them unasked. I will, though, question whether or not things have gotten a bit too outlandish when it comes to recruiting. Personalized videos by major media conglomerates? Songs written and produced for a teenager to announce where he's playing football?
