Urban Meyer has said experiencing his own kids' collegiate recruitment softened his stance on his commitments visiting other schools. This is, after all, the biggest decision of these players' lives up until that point.
Some coaches take a harder and more literal approach to the word "commitment," as in: You're either visiting that other school, or you're committed to my class. You can't have both.
Consider Mark Dantonio of the latter camp.
Gavin Cupp, a 2016 three-star OL from Leipsic, Ohio, is currently listed as "a hard commit" to Michigan State (he's been committed since May), but David Berk of Scout.com is reporting Dantonio has jettisoned Cupp from the highly-rated class.
As Ari Wasserman of Cleveland.com notes, Cupp is without an Ohio State offer despite numerous unofficial visits to Ohio State. He does have offers from West Virginia, Missouri, Cincinnati, and others, according to 247.
