John U. Bacon has been ubiquitous lately, and today he's dropped another take on Michigan going from sell-outs to hand-outs in a measly four years. If you like laughing at Michigan, I recommend it in full.
However, one paragraph particularly struck me (emphasis mine):
Next year, either Michigan's ticket prices will come down, or the fans won't come. Either way, the department's burgeoning budget -- which jumped from roughly $100 million to $150 million in four years, including a 72-percent jump in administrative salaries -- will have to be cut back, or Michigan athletics will be heading into debt.
That... is... staggering. Not only due to Michigan's performance in those four years, but because WHO ELSE IS GETTING 72% RAISES OVER FOUR YEARS?
Hedge fund managers, maybe, but those are scams, as everybody knows.
That's just downright arrogance, nothing more, nothing less. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised, however, because as we all know... arrogance is a key trait in the Michigan Man.
