With the hiring of his 25-year-old son as tight ends coach, and former Penn State safety/Youngstownian Michael Zordich as secondary coach, Jim Harbaugh's staff is officially christened and on the clock up in Satan's Mitten.
Here's what Ohio State is looking at for the foreseeable future:
Michigan's 2015 coaching staff:
NAME | POSITION | FORMER POSITION |
---|---|---|
JIM HARBAUGH | HEAD COACH | 49ers HEAD COACH |
JIM DREVNO | OC | USC OL COACH |
D.J. DURKIN | DC | FLORIDA DC |
JEDD FISCH | WR COACH | JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS OC |
GREG MATTISON | DL COACH | MICHIGAN DC |
TYRONE WHEATLEY | RB COACH | RB COACH, BUFFALO BILLS |
JAY HARBAUGH | TE COACH | BALTIMORE RAVENS "STAFF" |
GREG JACKSON | SECONDARY COACH | 49ers DB COACH |
MIKE ZORDICH | SECONDARY COACH | YSU DB COACH |
KEVIN TOLBERT | STRENGTH | 49ers STRENGTH COACH |
As is plain to see, while Harbaugh didn't get his No. 1 selection at every position, he assembled a coaching staff with years of college and NFL experience. And while the ultimate judgement will come on the field, there's no reason not to think Michigan just got an off-season upgrade of a lifetime.
The one position still open, however, is a big one. Michigan is searching for a recruiting coordinator. (Any Ohio State fan that knows Ohio State's Director of Personnel, Mark Pantoni, knows how crucial a hire of that nature can be.)
Only 312 days until Ohio State takes on Michigan in Ann Arbor.
