Gun and drug charges are bad enough on their own, but when the two are combined it's especially serious business.
Such is the Tuesday morning headache of Alabama coach Nick Saban and two of his players.
From profootballtalk.com:
Alabama left tackle Cam Robinson, a potential top pick in the 2017 NFL draft, has been arrested on a felony weapons charge and a misdemeanor drug charge.
[...]
Jail records show that he is facing a felony charge of illegal possession of stolen firearms and a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance, as well as a charge of illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of narcotics.
Worth noting Cam Robinson started as a true freshman at left tackle in 2014. He is already considered one of the top available picks in the 2017 NFL Draft. He wasn't the only one arrested, either:
Arrested along with Robinson was Alabama defensive back Laurence “Hootie” Jones. Although Jones is not a starter at Alabama and is not viewed as a future top pick, he has shown flashes of talent in his two seasons at Alabama and also has NFL potential. Jones is facing the same misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance and illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of narcotics as Robinson, although Jones is not facing the felony charge of possession of stolen firearms.
Alabama opens its 2016 season against Southern California in Arlington, Texas on Sept. 3. If Saban really lays down the law, expect these two to miss at least the first quarter.
