The 2016 Ohio State Football Team's Top-5 Twitter Accounts

2015 was an incredible year in Twitter, and the departures of Cardale Jones, Tyvis Powell, Ezekiel Elliott, Darron Lee, Michael Thomas, and Joey Bosa will surely be felt by Buckeye Twitter this year. There really is no underselling how great those guys were/are at Twitter. They made my job so easy.

With them gone, who will fill the void for this season? Will younger talent step up, or is it up to the older guys to lead by example? Time will tell, but I put together an incredibly scientific list of the football team's Top-5 Tweeters heading into the 2016 season.

T5: Demario McCall

(This Top-5 is so scientific it has six names on it)

Demario McCall needed to be on this list. Here's the thing, McCall did not make this list because his tweets are that particularly exceptional, but because he himself is such an exceptional human being that it sometimes oozes into his Twitter account through his retweets.

Here are a few examples of his greatness.

Why, yes. He is in a tuxedo standing out the top of a sunroof holding a brick of cash to his ear like a cellphone.

Let this be an open plea for Demario McCall to be more active on Twitter. Buckeye Nation The world needs it.

T5. Sean Nuernberger

Sean Nuernberger cracks the top-5, and it's well deserved. He probably has Cameron Johnston to thank for this, as he's the subject of roughly 57 percent of his jokes.

4. Mike Weber

This is one that I cannot really provide much evidence for because he deletes most of his gems after a few hours (shades of Darron Lee), but you're going to have to trust me. He's going to be a valuable contributor out of the backfield this year, and he'll be at least equally valuable to your Twitter feed.

Here are a few survivors of his Tweet purge:

3. Johnnie Dixon

Johnnie Dixon comes in at No. 3 and is consistently one of the most active and humorous guys on Twitter. He's incredibly blunt and is not afraid to call out or roast his teammates in front of his followers. On occasion, he drops an absolute gem of a Tweet as well.

(In response to Warren Ball's shaved head).

2. Stephen Collier

Stephen Collier is by far the most consistent good-tweeter on the team, so much so that when I put together the Tweets From Around Campus articles for over a year, his account was always the first one I looked to.

He's always funny, but he rarely goes out of his way to make a joke. It's an everyday sort of humor, and I appreciate that.

Stephen has been so good for so long it actually pained me to award the top spot to somebody else, but it really was earned.

1. Liam McCullough

Redshirt freshman Longsnapper Liam McCullough takes the crown this year, and he knows he has big shoes to fill.

Having Twitter game as strong as Cardale Jones is like being the next Braxton Miller – it's something to aspire to, but it's just not going to happen. Dolo is absolutely one of a kind, and is in my mind the unquestioned king of Twitter. He had May fools, the hospital NCAA Football beatdown, the Ronda Rousey fling, the Joakim Noah feud and the time he forced a #HotTake artist to delete his account.

Nobody is topping that, so let's not try to compare. Instead, we'll appreciate what we have, because it's all absolutely fantastic:

Here's to many more good Tweets in the future.

Honorable Mentions

This list could have been a top-10, but numbers 5-10 would have been too close to call. Instead, here is an honorable mention list in no particular order.

Brady Taylor
Jalyn Holmes
Jamarco Jones
Joe Burger
Sam Hubbard
Michael Jordan
