Ohio State's defense escalated things against Tulsa late in the second quarter of Saturday's contest.
While monsoon rains poured into the Horseshoe, Malik Hooker returned a Dane Evans pass to help put the Buckeyes up 13-3 on the Golden Hurricane. The next possession, with the halftime whistle looming, Tulsa coach Philip Montgomery decided to press for another score before half.
Dane Evan's wayward pass wasn't helped by Hurricane receiver Nigel Carter slipping, but Ohio State's Marshon Lattimore made the play anyway for his second touchdown of the game.
Tyler Durbin made the ensuing kick to put the Buckeyes up 20-3, a score taken into halftime.
