Jim Harbaugh drew criticism earlier this week with the hiring of King's Academy (CA.) coach Michael Johnson Sr., a longtime NFL assistant but also the father of 2019's top dual-threat quarterback, Michael Johnson Jr.
That hiring, however, reportedly was contingent on the NCAA adding a 10th assistant coach in April. What once seemed like a mere formality now looks like it will be pushed back to 2018 as lower-tier schools couldn't rustle up the cash.
According to Sam Webb, the managing editor of The Michigan Insider, Johnson will land at Oregon instead.
Hearing that former King's Academy coach Michael Johnson is set be hired as the new WR coach at #Oregon. #PeteFinebaum #Clueless

the amendment delaying the addition of 10th coach until 2018 would have limited Johnson's opportunity at #Michigan

Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports confirmed the report.
If it transpires like that, go ahead and chalk one up for Harbaugh over "Pete" Finebaum, who spent the last week lambasting Harbaugh for a hire that never happened.
