B1G
B1G LOSSES // 2 WEEKS // 8 LOST COMMITS

The last two weeks have been hard on B1G teams on the recruiting front. Michigan State, Nebraska, Ohio State and Purdue lost a combined eight commits in the last 14 days. The Spartans took the biggest hit with three players stepping away from their verbal commitments.

If it is possible, Mark Dantonio's disposition is a little grumpier than normal this week. The reason for his angst is from his team's performance on and off of the field. The Spartans lost to Nebraska six days ago and also lost three times on the recruiting trail. DT Naquan Jones,  RB Abdul Adams and WR Jonah Morris all decided to rescind on their verbals to Michigan State. That's a 2,635 point hit to the 2016 class. Ouch.

Nebraska gained a running back and lost a running back. The Huskers picked up Tre Bryant on the 8th of November, but lost Aphonso Thomas. Thomas switched to SMU after Bryant joined the class. Nebraska also lost quarterback Terry Wilson to Oregon on September 6th.

Purdue's poor play prompts two players to look elsewhere. WR Nate Johnson from Tennessee decided to de-commit from Purdue after Vanderbilt and Miami showed interest. Johnson will still take an official visit to Purdue, but he will likely sign elsewhere.

Kareem Walker put on his walking shoes and walked out of his commitment to Ohio State. After Antonio Williams flipped from Wisconsin to the Buckeyes the Kareem Walker de-commitment clock officially started. Although Walker stated he was 100% committed after Williams joined the '16 class it took less than two weeks for him to re-open his recruitment.

MOVING ON UP

The position of the teams in the composite average rankings did not change much. However, some teams made significant jumps with their ratings. Nebraska had the biggest jump with the addition of RB Tre Bryant. The Cornhuskers gained 15 comp. points. Wisconsin, Penn State and Illinois were the other teams gaining at least 3 points over the last two weeks.

The five schools that gained 1 point were: Iowa, Maryland, Michigan State, Rutgers and That Team.

FREE FALLING

Three teams had their average composite average drop. Purdue had the biggest fall losing 7 points. Ohio State not only lost Kareem Walker, but also 4 comp. points and Minnesota lost one points over the last 14 days.

OHIO STATE ON TOP

Even with the loss of the nation's top-ranked running back, Ohio State still has enough juice to lead the B1G in the 2016 recruiting race. Penn State is now seven points closer.

TOTAL POINTS REVIEW
ON THE RISE

That Team and Iowa made the biggest gains in total points. The Wolverines made the biggest splash with the commitment of  SDE Carlo Kemp from Colorado (.894).

Nebraska received its bump from RB Tre Bryant (.858) and Iowa was helped by the 863 points gained from CB KJ Sails of Florida.

BIGGEST LOSERS

As noted above, Michigan State, Purdue Nebraska and Ohio State took the biggest hits. The Spartans have some work to do to recover from the 2,635 points they lost over the last 14 days.

Purdue could not afford to lose any players, but when they did they dropped 1,697 points. To put that in perspective the Boilermakers lost close to 23 percent of their total points for the 2016 recruiting class.

IOWA ON TOP OF THE WEST AND TOTAL POINTS STANDINGS!

The Hawkeyes are undefeated on the field and have parlayed that success to recruiting. Iowa currently has the most commits in the B1G and also has the most total points. When other schools add to their '16 totals the gap will close, but for now Iowa is your B1G total points leader.
