Ohio State's men's lacrosse team defeated Air Force 8-6, clinching at least a share of the ECAC regular season title for the first time in program history.
It was a low scoring game throughout, and tight too. The Buckeyes (6-6, 3-0) were ahead most of the day, but the Falcons kept coming back, tying the score five times. Ryan Hunter's fourth goal of the day put Ohio State up 7-6, and an empty net goal by Carter Brown with under a minute remaining sealed the deal.
Goalie Scott Spencer had a career-high 14 saves in the win. Ohio State can win the outright conference title by beating Fairfield next Saturday.
For the Buckeyes, the win over Air Force marks a strong recovery from a disappointing non-conference slate. Win or lose next week, the Buckeyes will host Fairfield, Air Force and Michigan on May 1 and 3 in the ECAC Championship for an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
