No. 1 Virginia beat No. 4 Ohio State in Charlottesville on Monday, 4-1, in the finals of the ITA National Indoor Team Championship.
The loss was the first of the season for the Buckeyes (13-1). UVA's Luca Crinteli and Carl Soderlund downed Mikael Torpegaard, the No. 2 tennis player in the nation, and Herkko Pollanen, 6-0, on court one.
Buckeyes Martin Joyce and Hugo Di Feo led 6-5 on court two when the match came to "a disputed end," according to the official match report.
The OSU duo of Matt Mendez and Hunter Tuber lost to Collin Altamirano and J.C. Aragone, 7-5, that sealed the doubles point to Virginia.
Torpegaard, however, was the only Buckeye to win a singles match, defeating Altamirano 6-3, 7-6 (7-3).
The Buckeyes head to No. 6 Florida on Saturday, Feb. 26th.
