Six members of the Ohio State men's lacrosse team were named All-Americans on Wednesday evening by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association.
Leading the way was Ben Randall, a senior defenseman from Mason, Ohio, who was named to the first team. Randall was the first-ever USILA first-team All-American in program history. He started all 19 games this season for the Buckeyes.
Senior faceoff specialist Jake Withers was named to the second team. Withers, the two-time Big Ten Specialist of the Year, ranks fourth nationally in faceoff winning percentage at .661.
Third-team USILA All-Americans for Ohio State included freshman attackman Tre Leclaire and senior goalie Tom Carey. Senior attackman Eric Fannell and freshman midfielder Ryan Terefenko were both honorable mention choices for the Buckeyes.
The six overall All-American selections tie the Ohio State program record from 1957. The four first/second/third team picks, however, are a program best.
The Buckeyes are 15-4 on the season and are seeded No. 3 in the NCAA tournament. Up next for Ohio State is a national semifinal against Towson at noon Saturday. That game will be play at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
This is the first time in program history Ohio State reached the NCAA semifinals.
