Evan Turner Ejected from Preseason Game for Hitting a Referee with a Ball

Evan Turner was an excellent basketball player for Ohio State, but he was always sort of an enigma.

Turner was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, and while Turner has been solid in his performance, he hasn't approached the production expected of a No. 2 pick. As such, Turner is on his third team (the Boston Celtics) since 2010.

Although he's already amassed millions of dollars, former Evan Turner hits include fighting fellow enigma Lance Stephenson in the lead-up to a playoff game, and his Ferrari running out of gas on the 315/670 split during rush-hour. (Mark Titus, OSU's most famous bench-warmer and former teammate of ET's, related a story in his book, Don't Put Me in Coach, of how Turner once showed up to a formal team dinner wearing jeans and sneakers.)

But it appears the Villain has struck once more; this time in an NBA preseason game of all places.

From SI.com:

Boston Celtics forward Evan Turner was ejected from Wednesday night’s preseason game against the Toronto Raptors after throwing the basketball at an official.

Turner received a technical foul for arguing with an official during the third quarter of Boston’s 92-89 loss to Toronto. After the whistle blew, Turner threw the ball in the direction of official Eric Lewis, which immediately got him tossed.

Celtics coach Brad Stevens had no problem with the ejection, saying he thought Turner earned an early trip to the showers for his behavior.

While it was nothing seriously egregious, it's also something that will earn you an ejection every time, and Evan Turner knew that.

Turner played 27 minutes and left with 11 points, seven rebounds and six assists. The Boston Celtics fell to the Toronto Raptors, 92-89.
