Ohio State freshman guard JaQuan Lyle was interviewed by the NCAA on Tuesday regarding his recruitment to Louisville, a university spokesperson confirmed to Eleven Warriors on Wednesday evening. The news was first reported by Yahoo! Sports.
The interview was part of an ongoing investigation at Louisville, which stems from allegations made in a new book about potential rules violations by the basketball program. The book, titled “Breaking Cardinal Rules: Basketball and the Escort Queen,” was published last week.
An Ohio State spokesman confirmed the meeting, but said the there was no concern regarding Lyle's eligibility at this time.
"Met with NCAA yesterday," the spokesman said. "No issue with Ohio State."
CBS Sports reported Thursday morning Lyle "told the truth" during his meeting with the NCAA and confirmed allegations made in the book involving paid escorts while on his visit to Louisville.
Yahoo! Sports obtained text messages sent between Katina Powell, the co-author of the book and self-described madam, and Louisville director of basketball operations Andre McGee. One such entry regarding Lyle, who was a high school senior at the time, can be seen below:
“Been a long time since we’ve been up to U of L to do a show. McGee texted me like, what’s up? He wanted me to bring three girls up there for a new recruit named JaQuan Lyle, he and his friend. I took (escorts) Rod-Ni, TooTall, Jazmine and Shay, who calls herself Sammi. TooTall made $100, Shay made $100, and Jazzy made nothing because she did absolutely nothing."
Lyle committed to Louisville in June of 2013 before de-committing in September. He then wound up committing to Ohio State after an NCAA issue declared him ineligible at Oregon before ever enrolling at the school.
