It did not take long for Ohio State head coach Thad Matta to find a replacement for Jeff Boals. The Buckeyes are expected to bring back Chris Jent as an assistant coach, a source confirmed to Eleven Warriors.
Multiple outlets reported Jent was likely to re-join Ohio State's staff. The initial development was first reported by Brian Snow of Scout.com early Tuesday morning.

Jent is currently on Ohio State's campus, according to a source. According to the Columbus Dispatch's Adam Jardy, Jent is scheduled to interview and that interview will "likely be little more than formality."
Ohio State posted an official job opening Monday on the school's website. That listing does not expire until next Monday so an official announcement likely will not come until then.
Jent was an assistant coach at Ohio State for two seasons from 2011-13 before leaving to take an assistant job with the Sacramento Kings. He spent this past season as the head coach for the Bakersfield Jam of the NBA's Developmental League.
Jent is an Ohio State alumnus who played for the Buckeyes from 1988-92. After a brief stint in the NBA, he began is coaching career overseas before returning to become an assistant in the NBA. He worked for the Philadelphia 76ers, Orlando Magic and Cleveland Cavaliers before joining Matta at Ohio State in 2011.
Jent replaces Boals, who was introduced Monday as the new head coach at Stony Brook following seven seasons in Columbus as an assistant. Jent joins Dave Dickerson and Greg Paulus as assistant coaches under Matta.
