When Ohio State extended a scholarship offer to Perry, Ohio's Luke Farrell last June, most expected a commitment soon thereafter. In fact, most were surprised that the 6-foot-6, 240-pounder didn't make a decision immediately. The wait for Farrell has led some to believe he was looking for greener pastures, but that wait is over today: Luke Farrell has committed to Ohio State.
The Farrell File
The country's 5th-ranked tight end, Farrell fought off an urge to commit too early and instead focused on exploring the recruiting process in a quiet, controlled manner. He's rarely talked about his recruitment on social media, despite making a number of visits to Penn State, Michigan State, Boston College and others. He's visited Ohio State multiple times – he's got a brother who attends the school – and his decision ultimately came down to where he was most comfortable.
Overall, Farrell holds 16 offers and chose the Buckeyes, who have recruited him primarily with tight end coach Tim Hinton. That relationship has helped the Buckeyes fight off a handful of big-time programs in recent months. Michigan State and Notre Dame have each made big push to land Farrell but familiarity with Ohio State won out in the end.

The 19th commitment in the Buckeyes' 2016 class, Farrell is the second pure tight end, joining Cincinnati Moeller's Jake Hausmann, who committed to the Buckeyes in January. Ohio State also has a commitment from Maple Heights' Kierre Hawkins, who many think could end up at tight end in college.
Ohio State's Mark Pantoni, who was a bit busy tonight, took to Twitter to celebrate the commitments of Farrell and 2017 kicker Blake Haubeil:
Better late than never - BMMMMM BMMMMM!!!!

Eleven Warriors will have more on Luke Farrell's commitment soon.
