2025 cornerback Jordyn Woods flips from Cincinnati and commits to Ohio State.
Emory Jones' stock continues to rise.
The Ohio State quarterback commit received a fifth star on Monday from Rivals when the recruiting service released its initial rankings for the class of 2018.
The 6-foot-4, 180-pound signal caller from Franklin, Georgia, is the third-highest rated player at his position in Rivals' first 2018 rankings. He trails Trevor Lawrence, the top-rated player in the country, and Matt Corral, who is ranked fourth.
Jones is one of three new five-star recruits in the Rivals rankings, joining Florence, South Carolina, defensive end Xavier Thomas and Miami, Florida, running back James Cook.
"Jones has one of the best sophomore highlight films in his class and he backed it up with one impressive showing after another during the camp season," Rivals Southeast Recruiting Analyst Woody Wommack said. "He's an electric athlete who can make plays, but he's even more impressive as a passer, where his accuracy and deep ball ability are already very developed. Jones also still has room to grow, making him a clear candidate for five-star status."
Jones committed to Ohio State July 29, choosing the Buckeyes over Clemson and Tennessee.
He is the second pledge in the 2018 class, joining Florida running back Brian Snead. Jones enters a loaded quarterback room in Columbus, set to step into a competition with 2017 commits Tate Martell and Danny Clark in addition to current Buckeyes Joe Burrow and Dwayne Haskins.
