Ohio State's 2024 recruiting class has suffered a devastating blow.
When five-star defensive tackle Justin Scott committed to Ohio State in July, he caught many OSU fans off guard. Wednesday, the Chicago product took the recruiting world by surprise by flipping his commitment from Ohio State to Miami.

With Scott no longer in the class, OSU is down to 22 commits in the 2024 class and two defensive linemen in Eddrick Houston and Eric Mensah.
While there's no replacing the potential Scott brings in any other high school target OSU could find, the Buckeyes will host a pair of defensive linemen on official visits on Dec. 8 in Carlon Jones and Ernest Willor Jr., visits that feel all the more critical now. OSU is also firmly in the running to flip four-star Florida commit Amaris Williams.
It's fair to expect OSU to be active in exploring its options in the transfer portal when it opens on Monday.
Scott was considered the 12th-ranked prospect and the third-ranked defensive lineman in the 2024 class per 247Sports' composite rankings. He's the second defensive lineman OSU has lost to Miami this recruiting cycle, along with Marquise Lightfoot.
