The transfer portal doesn't officially open until Monday, but Ohio State has already made an offer to a potential transfer target.
Middle Tennessee defensive tackle Marley Cook announced an offer from Ohio State on Thursday after speaking with defensive line coach Larry Johnson. The offer comes as Ty Hamilton, Tyleik Williams and Mike Hall Jr. could explore their professional opportunities in the offseason, which, depending on their decisions, could leave Ohio State's depth at defensive tackle thin in 2024.

Cook was allowed to enter the transfer portal early both because he is a graduate transfer and because Middle Tennessee coach Rick Stockstill was fired earlier this week, allowing other programs to contact the 6-foot-2, 298-pound defensive tackle.
Per On3, Cook has set up a visit to Miami on Dec. 8 and Ohio State on Dec. 15.
Cook has been with Middle Tennessee since the start of the 2019 season and has been a starter for two consecutive years. In 2023, he racked up 22 tackles, six tackles for loss, one sack, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery while earning a grade of 73.4 per Pro Football Focus. The 2022 season was Cook's best in college, where he earned a 85.2 grade from PFF after recording 6.5 sacks and nine tackles for loss.
