When Chad Lindsay transferred to Ohio State this spring, the team held hopes that he would provide depth on the offensive line. Instead, his career at Ohio State is over before it ever really began.
As first reported by ESPN.com's Austin Ward, Lindsay is set to step away from football because of injuries. For Lindsay, a fifth-year senior, this would mark the end of his college career. Lindsay announced his decision in an email.
When Lindsay left Alabama in April, Lindsay was in contention for the starting center position. He was listed as the backup to Jacoby Boren on the depth charts for the first two games of the season. According to the email, Lindsay suffered an unspecified serious injury in fall camp and re-aggravated the injury last week, leading him to announce that he was stepping away from football.
Without Lindsay, Ohio State's offensive line situation is verging on precarious. The line was already thin, and with Lindsay's decision and an injury to Evan Lisle the Buckeyes may be forced to add more youth to the two-deep – a risky proposition, given the line's performance against Virginia Tech.
We wish Lindsay the best.
