In our season preview edition, one commenter seemed disappointed by the lack of former Ohio State players in the NFL.

Since then, the number rose from 28 to 29. Still, the commenter's sentiment, presumably, remains the same. This year's draft boosted the high-end OSU talent in the pros, but a two-year drought without a first-round pick didn't help the total.

Six players drafted in the early part of the decade – Thaddeus Gibson, Doug Worthington, Austin Spitler, Jermale Hines, Brian Rolle and Ross Homan – are no longer on NFL rosters. With more Buckeye longevity, the school would be a little higher on this list:

Rank School players on opening Day Rosters
1 Louisiana State University 38
2 Southern California 37
3 Alabama 36
4 Georgia  34
5 Florida 33
5 Florida State 33
7 Miami (FL) 31
8 California 29
8 Ohio State 29
10 Notre Dame 28
10 Tennessee 28
12 Wisconsin 27
13 Auburn 26
13 Texas 26
15 Clemson 24

Fragel Released

He spent most of training camp with the Browns, but tackle Reid Fragel was let go before rosters shrunk to its 53-player max. Fragel quickly resurfaced and signed with the Colts, who placed him on their practice squad shortly after Cleveland cut him.

Prior to their Monday night matchup against Philadelphia, Indianapolis also released Fragel. Understandably, the Colts needed to make room for a running back who is undoubtedly better than Trent Richardson:

The Rams' Christian Bryant and Ravens' John Simon are the only two Buckeyes that are currently members of an NFL team's practice squad.

Play of the Week

With Carson Palmer inactive due to an injured shoulder, the Cardinals inserted former Michigan State quarterback Drew Stanton as their Week Two starter.

Naturally, they needed an offensive boost, even against the Giants' porous defense. That's where Ted Ginn Jr. comes in, providing Arizona's only touchdown in the second half (via Fansided):
