The Buckeye Cruise For Cancer, a four-day charity cruise carrying Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer, Buckeye celebrities and alumni, will spend another day in the Gulf of Mexico after heavy fog thwarted its return to land.
The cruise was due back in Tampa Bay on Monday, but heavy fog has closed Port Tampa Bay and left the ship (among other cargo ships) stranded off the coast for at least one more day. Temperatures are reportedly in the 70s in the Gulf.
Among those on board are Meyer, his wife, Shelley, and other notable Buckeye athletes, personalities and alumni.
Proceeds from the cruise go toward the Urban & Shelley Meyer Fund for Cancer Research and the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center-Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute.
