After helping Ohio State win a national championship in 2015, Devin Smith's next football step got off to a good start last weekend when he was selected by the New York Jets with the 37th pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. A week later, hours after his first NFL practice, Smith's first NFL contract is signed and he's officially a member of Gang Green.

The Jets, it appears, are happy to have the deal done.
"He has all the skills from an athletic standpoint to – in our minds – be a very good starting caliber receiver when it’s all said and done in terms of his development,” Jets' GM Mike Maccagnan said. "He brings a dimension to our offense in terms of at least initially being a vertical threat and an impactful type player in that sense."
The terms of the contract were not released.
