If you're planning on gambling on Ohio State this season, you're going to need a lot of investment money.
It's no secret Ohio State is expected to be extremely, extremely good this year, but today, we got another glimpse of the majestic canyon that separates Ohio State from almost every other program in America.
The Buckeyes are expected to be double-digit favorites in every regular season game this season. Yes, that's right, according to Ed Salmons, the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook manager.
"Ohio State is going to be double-digit favorites in every game throughout the regular season and the Big Ten Championship game," said Salmons, who spoke to Micah Roberts of SportingNews.com. "Their toughest conference game is going to be at home against Michigan State, and I'm thinking the number should be Ohio State as high as minus-16. You won't see a single-digit number on them until the playoffs start."
That's quite the role reversal considering Ohio State was an underdog in every postseason game it played last season. If the playoffs started tomorrow though, Salmons says Ohio State would still be the betting favorite.
"Right now, I've got them (Ohio State) about 3 points better than anyone (Alabama is No. 2) on a neutral field," said Salmons.
Critics of Ohio State will use this as proof of Ohio State's weak regular season schedule. Salmons concurs, saying, "The worst team in the SEC West could be the second-best team in the Big Ten."
Buckeye fans, however, shouldn't worry too much. Ohio State's schedule is better than last year's, and last year's schedule did just fine in preparing OSU for its championship run.
