Jarrod Barnes grew up in Central Ohio before leaving his home state to pursue a football career.
Thursday, he decided to return home.
According to Barnes' Instagram, the Louisville safety has decided to transfer to Ohio State. Hailing from Westerville, Barnes completed his undergraduate degree this spring after redshirting as a walk-on in 2012, so he is set to have two years of eligibility remaining per NCAA rules. He will not be on scholarship with the Buckeyes.
The 5-foot-11, 193-pounder appeared in more than 20 games during his Louisville career, mainly on special teams.
Barnes went to Westerville South High School where he was named to the IMG All-Madden Team his senior season and was a team captain.
An Ohio State spokesman did not immediately respond to request for comment on Barnes' transfer Thursday.
