Wednesday night's Scarlet and Gray Days got bumped by Noah Brown's season-ending leg fracture, but it did catch Urban Meyer with some interesting quotes about #QBgeddon.
On the leadership differences (and similarities) between his two quarterbacks:
“Of all the great players I’ve ever been around, J.T. has the DNA of a leader. Some kids are born with it, some you have to develop. I think Cardale was born with it, too, but we’re pulling it out of him."
Here, Meyer's words about J.T. Barrett's leadership could be carved into concrete. It seems like it's an ongoing process with Cardale, but even that is a testament to how far the Cleveland bomb thrower has come.
Meyer didn't stop there, either. Speaking from a couches' lounge on Monday night, Meyer offered a timeframe on his decision:
"They’re going to split reps 50-50 all the way up to next week. I’m going to look at all of the statistical data from the first week of practice and in our own mind, we’ll start making some hard evaluations."
Meyer also hinted that neither quarterback could be truly relegated to the bench:
“I’m not even sure how we’re going to do it. We may play two this year."
Now, it must be noted Meyer is a master at gamesmanship, and Ohio State owns rights to the final cut.
On the other hand, Meyer's teams don't use a lot of window dressing, and he's a franker coacher than most.
