It'd be hard to follow college football on a national scale and avoid all media coverage by former Ohio State footballers. From Chris Spielman to Joey Galloway to Eddie George to Kirk Herbstreit, Buckeye greats populate the CFB media landscape.
Former Jim Tressel wide receiver Dane Sanzenbacher, who posted professional stints with the Cincinnati Bengals and Chicago Bears, is the latest Buckeye to make the crossover. According to The Toledo Blade, Sanzenbacher joined Toledo's WTOL-TV Channel 11 news team earlier this month.
Though Sanzenbacher's background as a local professional athlete played a role in the hiring, he won't be pigeonholed into the station's football coverage.
“He was brought on to do more than just football,” WTOL's news director Anthony Kopps told The Blade. “He has a unique skill set that will serve not just our sports department but our entire news department as well.”
Sanzenbacher's first assignment? What else but an interview his former coach Jim Tressel.
