J.T. Barrett received a fine and had his driver's license suspended by a Columbus judge Tuesday morning for an OVI citation, but finds his name back atop the Ohio State depth chart at quarterback for Saturday's game at Illinois.
Barrett sat out Ohio State's 28-14 against Minnesota last Saturday, suspended by Urban Meyer, but is back in the saddle "unless he does not have a good week of practice," the coach said Monday.
No. 3 and 9-0 Ohio State is set for a noon kickoff in Champaign, Illinois, against the Fighting Illini Saturday. The team's latest depth chart was released Tuesday afternoon.
Notes:
- Barrett replaces Cardale Jones at quarterback, who started and accounted for 252 total yards and two touchdowns against the Golden Gophers. Braxton Miller was listed as the backup quarterback last week, but that responsibility is now back to Jones.
- Miller, who left Saturday's game midway through the fourth quarter after having his head slammed to the turf by a defender following a reception, remains listed as Ohio State's starting H-back.
- Despite missing a 35-yard field goal attempt and sending a kickoff out of bounds against Minnesota, graduate senior Jack Willoughby is still listed as Ohio State's starting kicker. Meyer mentioned Tuesday on the Big Ten teleconference that he is "potentially going to making a change at field goal" and Sean Nuernberger will get a chance to earn back the starting spot. The decision is set to be made Wednesday.
- Curtis Samuel is listed as backup H-back this week, taking the place of Dontre Wilson, who isn't listed anywhere on the two-deep.
- After returning from a six-game hiatus last Saturday against Minnesota, sophomore Damon Webb is now Eli Apple's backup at corner in place of freshman Denzel Ward.
- Tommy Schutt re-enters the lineup at defensive tackle after missing the Rutgers and Minnesota games with wrist surgery. He's listed as a co-starter with Joel Hale and Michael Hill at the position.
