Connor Cook is one of the best players in the Big Ten, a crucial part of Michigan State's chances to unseat Ohio State Saturday at Ohio Stadium.
The Spartan quarterback, however, left Michigan State's 24-7 victory against Maryland Saturday with an injury to his throwing shoulder. Monday evening on a teleconference, Cook provided an update on its status.
"Shoulder's great. Feels good," Cook said.
Cook wouldn't comment on if he's been able to throw since sustaining the injury, or if he underwent X-rays to determine any structural damage.
"I'm not gonna answer that question," Cook said.
Spartan head coach Mark Dantonio meets with the media Tuesday, but typically doesn't provide updates on injuries to his players. Ohio State, though, is preparing as if Cook will be 100 percent.
"Cook will play. He’s a competitor, he’ll play," Buckeye co-defensive coordinator Chris Ash said Monday. "They have had several snaps of a backup quarterback in there, they’ve played a lot with two quarterbacks out on the field. They’ve got some similarities, they have differences and we’ll be ready with whoever is out there."
The Buckeyes and Spartans kick off at 3:30 p.m. in Columbus.
