Taylor Decker got his first taste of professional football over the weekend, when the Detroit Lions held their rookie minicamp.
The Lions announced Friday the signing of Decker and eight other draft picks, but the details of his deal were not readily available.
They are now. According to the Detroit Free Press, Decker is guaranteed nearly $11 million from his new employer in his four-year deal.
The outline of his contract, as reported by the Free Press:
- Signing bonus: $6,175,984
- Total guaranteed money: $10,966,978
- 2016 base salary: $450,000
- 2016 cap number: $1,993,996
- Future base salaries: 2017 - $948,499; 2018 - $1,446,998; 2019 - $1,945,497
The Lions selected the former Ohio State star 16th overall in the 2016 NFL Draft April 28, the fourth of five Buckeyes to come off the board among the first 20 picks.
Decker is the third Buckeye to sign his contract with his new team, following tight end Nick Vannett in Seattle and cornerback Eli Apple with the New York Giants.
