Mike Vrabel could be moving up in the world.
Less than two years ago, the former Ohio State great was employed at his alma mater as a defensive line coach. Vrabel jumped to the NFL in February 2014 to join Bill O'Brien's new Houston Texans staff as linebackers coach.
Vrabel took such a liking to his job, he now feels ready for another leap.
According to Bleacher Report's Matt Miller (and confirmed by the NFL's Ian Rapaport) Vrabel is interviewing on Tuesday to become defensive coordinator of Chip Kelly's new San Fransisco 49ers staff.
Eric Mangini, the former Cleveland Browns coach who served as the 49ers' defensive coordinator last year, is also in the running for the position.
