Less than two years ago, Mike Vrabel was Ohio State's defensive line coach. On Tuesday, he interviewed to be the next San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator under new frontman Chip Kelly.
“I’m looking for a defensive coordinator that can shut people out,” Kelly said during his Jan. 20 press conference. “I’m a base 3-4 guy.”
Kelly must think Vrabel is that guy, because according to ESPN's Dianna Marie Russini the 49ers offered him the DC job on Wednesday.
Though it would undoubtedly be a step up in the footballing world for Vrabel, he's still currently employed by the Houston Texans as their linebackers coach.
The 49ers are reportedly awaiting Vrabel's decision, and Eleven Warriors will have more on this story as it develops.
