One of the thinnest parts of Ohio State's roster is about to get a boost.

Chase Hounshell, a Notre Dame tight end who originally committed to Urban Meyer at Florida, is set to head to Ohio State as a graduate transfer and preferred walk-on. Hounshell made the announcement via his Twitter account Monday morning.

An Ohio State spokesman did not immediately return request for comment on Hounshell's reported transfer.

Hounshell hails from Mentor, Ohio, and Lake Catholic High School and committed to Notre Dame as a 3-star defensive lineman in 2011. Current Ohio State tight ends coach and offensive coordinator Ed Warinner recruited him to South Bend, Indiana.

He played in 13 games this past season for the Fighting Irish and caught one pass for six yards in a 28-7 win against Wake Forest Nov. 14.

Marcus Baugh sits atop the depth chart at tight end for the Buckeyes out of spring practice. A.J. Alexander is in the mix as well after Rashod Berry moved to the other side of the ball.

True freshmen Luke Farrell, Jake Hausmann and Kierre Hawkins are set to enroll this summer as members of Ohio State's 2016 recruiting class.
