Eli Apple isn't the only member of the Apple family going pro this fall.

The New York Giants selected former Ohio State cornerback Eli Apple with the 10th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft last month. On Monday, ESPN drafted his mother, Annie, to serve as a contributor this fall to Sunday NFL Countdown, its weekly NFL pregame show.

Annie is originally from Ghana and lived in Liberia, Nigeria, England, and Scotland before landing in New Jersey. Combine that with the routine comedic wit displayed on Twitter and her personal blog, she will be a breath of fresh perspective for anyone bored by ESPN's usual pregame assembly line of serious people saying serious things about the serious National Football League.

"I am beyond excited to be joining the ESPN family and to have the platform to rep sports moms' perspectives, energy, contributions and fantastic awkwardness to viewers around the world," Apple said in a statement. "Moms are the heart and backbone of all sports. We are our kids' first coaches, trainers, nutritionists and cheerleaders."

Originally founded in 1985, Sunday NFL Countdown airs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET on ESPN during the NFL regular season.
