It's official: Ohio State offensive tackle transfer Grant Schmidt is headed south on I-71 to continue his footballing career.
Schmidt is headed to Cincinnati to play for Tommy Tuberville's Bearcats, who went 7-6 and 4-4 in American Athletic Conference play in 2015.
Schmidt came to Ohio State in 2015 as a three-star OT prospect from Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He is believed to be Ohio State's first signee from South Dakota, but left the program earlier this month.
He will lose a year of eligibility as he sits out the 2016 campaign and will return for UC in 2017.
