Exactly one week until the Buckeyes kick off the 2016 season, a starter has lost his black stripe. Redshirt freshman longsnapper (and noted good-tweeter) Liam McCullough is officially part of the Ohio State football team.
The newly initiated McCullough thanked his unit, his big brother Bryce Haynes, his teammates and his coaches before finishing with a promise to keep getting better.
McCullough was the No. 1 long snapper in the country coming out of high school and earned a scholarship offer from Urban Meyer, which came as a surprise even to him.
"It was a bit of surprise," McCullough told Eleven Warriors. "They had offered me as a preferred walk-on over the summer after camp, but I was very excited and surprised to pick up an offer today."
He will replace three year starter Haynes this season and is expected to be the Buckeyes' starting long snapper for his remaining four years of eligibility.
Eleven Warriors congratulates Liam on officially becoming a Buckeye.
