Ohio State took care of business in emphatic fashion Saturday, destroying Bowling Green 77-10 in its 2016 season opener. That victory, coupled with Oklahoma's loss to Tom Herman's Houston Cougars, pushed the Buckeyes up one spot to No. 4 in the first in-season Amway Coaches Poll, released Tuesday.
The Buckeyes still trail top-ranked Alabama, Clemson and Florida State, who also hopped past Oklahoma after it defeated Ole Miss 45-34 Monday night.
Ohio State leads the five Big Ten teams in the poll, two spots ahead of Michigan. Michigan State sits at No. 8, Iowa is ranked 10th and Wisconsin breaks into the poll at No. 16 for after beating LSU 16-14 at Lambeau Field. The Tigers fell from No. 6 to No. 22 following the loss.
Houston jumped six spots to No. 7 after its 33-23 victory over the Sooners. The biggest mover in the poll is Texas, who shot up 12 spots to No. 20 after downing Notre Dame 50-47 in overtime.
The SEC leads all conferences with seven teams ranked in the top-25, though the Big Ten owns four of the nation's top-10 teams.
