Ohio State players, namely Jalyn Holmes, spent last week urging students in attendance to be loud and energetic during Saturday's primetime matchup with Nebraska.
"I’ve been to Wisconsin and it was a real loud crowd. Penn State – same with them," Holmes said. "I feel like we can beat that."
According to Urban Meyer, the students got the job done.
Monday afternoon, Meyer sent an email to the student body thanking them for the "electric and awesome atmosphere."
Meyer also thanked the students for their classy response to Tommy Armstrong's injury. The students chanted Armstrong's name both as he left the field in an ambulance as well as when he returned to the sideline in the second half.
The whole email, sent with the subject "Thank you!", reads as follows:
To the best students in the land,
I am writing today to thank you for the electric and awesome atmosphere that was generated by you in Ohio Stadium on Saturday night. This was such a big game for this year's team and we really needed to see, feel and hear the support of you students. And we did! When we needed you students the most, you gave us your very best effort, and I simply cannot thank you all enough for helping to make Saturday in the Horseshoe a truly awesome game and experience.
Also: your sincere applause and heartfelt cheers for injured Nebraska quarterback Tommy Armstrong were very classy responses that did not go unnoticed by our staff or the millions watching the game. Well done!
On behalf of the coaching staff and players, Thank You! And we'll see you in three weeks.
Coach Meyer
Meyer will undoubtably want a repeat performance on November 26th.
