In his first press conference after being named Cincinnati's head coach, Luke Fickell announced former Ohio State linebacker Marcus Freeman will join his staff.
Freeman played at Ohio State from 2004-08 before a brief NFL career. He then served as a graduate assistant at OSU for a season before becoming the linebackers coach at Kent State from 2011-13. Freeman then joined Darrell Hazell's staff at Purdue, where he served as a linebackers coach until the end of the 2016 season.
Ready for a new journey at the University of Cincinnati. Excited to be a part of Bearcat football and can't wait to get around our players.

While he did not offer specifics to Freeman's position, Fickell said he will be "a big part of our program."
Fickell also said he has not yet offered any Ohio State staff member to join him at Cincinnati. Kerry Coombs ended speculation that he might be joining Fickell's staff with a statement on Twitter.
Fickell will continue to coach the Buckeyes through their 2016 College Football Playoff run.
