Caleb Downs scores Ohio State’s first punt return touchdown since 2014.
Mike Vrabel is moving up in the Houston Texans organization once again.
The former linebackers coach, who left Ohio State to take the job in 2013, interviewed for the Los Angeles Rams head coaching vacancy last week. The Rams eventually hired 30-year-old Sean McVay.
Wednesday, the Texans promoted the former Buckeye star to defensive coordinator. Albert Breer of NFL Network first reported the news.
Former defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel is "likely" to be moved into another assistant head coaching position.
Vrabel interviewed to be Chip Kelly's defensive coordinator in San Francisco before the 2016 season, before turning an eventual offer down and staying with the Texans.
Vrabel's latest move is another step closer to becoming an NFL head coach, which industry insiders say is more of a question about "when" than "if."
The Texans went 9-7 this year before losing last Saturday, 36-16, to the New England Patriots.
