The 2025 Big Ten football season is almost here.
With preseason camps around the corner for Ohio State and the Big Ten's other 17 member schools, the conference held its annual Big Ten Media Days this week — with one small change. Rather than travel to Indianapolis and Lucas Oil Stadium for the event, representatives from each program trekked to Las Vegas and Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino to meet with reporters from Tuesday to Thursday.
Ohio State head coach Ryan Day, wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, safety Caleb Downs and linebacker Sonny Styles represented the Buckeyes in Vegas. Day participated in a 15-minute press conference Tuesday afternoon and a 45-minute breakout session Tuesday evening, while Ohio State's three players each had 30-minute breakout sessions soon after their coach left his podium.
Ohio State headlined Tuesday's session, which also featured appearances from Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti and representatives from Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska, Maryland and Rutgers. Wednesday's session included Penn State, Oregon, Washington, Minnesota and Wisconsin, while Thursday's session included Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa, USC, UCLA and Purdue.

Big Ten teams playing nine-game conference schedules while the SEC plays eight creates an uneven playing field in the eyes of Ohio State coach Ryan Day and Indiana coach Curt Cignetti, particularly in a College Football Playoff format in which most of the bids are awarded on an at-large basis.
“When you play nine conference games, it's not the same as someone who plays eight conference games. We've said this before. And so if you're going to be compared against that, then it's just not the same,” Day said.
