Ohio State spring practice is in full swing. The team completed its sixth installment of drills Tuesday morning at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.

Urban Meyer, hardly two hours removed from an impassioned speech to his team before practice, took to the podium in the team room to speak with reporters and provide updates.

NOTES:

  • DaVon Hamilton, Jalyn Holmes, Sam Hubbard, Michael Jordan, Austin Mack and Mike Weber stood out during Saturday's scrimmage: "Defensive line is a really big concern right now at Ohio State."
  • Donovan Munger is dealing with "a health issue," Meyer said. He mentioned Munger's past blood clot issues, which "are very serious."
  • On Ohio State's facilities, they are an integral part of recruiting but the main thing they push at recruits are equipment, academics and nutrition.
  • However, Meyer said recruiting is a huge part: "When you come in here, this should be a 'wow' place."
  • Jamarco Jones is getting closer to solidifying a starting spot on the offensive line.
  • On Michael Jordan, Meyer said "he just loves it. He doesn't know if it's left or right, but he loves it." He added he is really impressed with Jordan's demeanor and passion.
  • Joe Burrow did "just OK" during the scrimmage Saturday.
  • Asked about his quarterback situation this spring as to last year, Meyer said "he wishes he had four quarterbacks" and then had to pick one.
  • Meyer joked he planned to run in the fastest student competition at Saturday's student appreciation practice.
  • More on scholarship quarterbacks on roster, everyone tries to have four quarterbacks during the course of a season: "We all saw what happened at that position with injuries two years ago."
  • Meyer sees the potential at wide receiver right now, but "we have the guys with the potential, but that's not good ... Potential is a neat word for the first three or four months, but then after six months if you keep saying it that's not a good word to have."
  • Bri'onte Dunn and Mike Weber are "neck and neck" to start at running back at Ohio State.
  • Antonio Williams could be the first freshman to get his black stripe off, Meyer said.
  • Marshon Lattimore's lighter load Tuesday was just a result of his progression to try and stay healthy, Meyer said.
  • Torrance Gibson has the potential to be great, Meyer said. As does K.J. Hill: "We almost played him last year, if you remember."
  • Meyer said Lou Holtz "will be" at student appreciation day Saturday.
