Michigan will open its 2023 football season with a premier spotlight in a matchup that will be broadcast exclusively on ... Peacock?
That's right, the Wolverines' Week 1 contest against East Carolina on Sept. 2 has been relegated to a streaming-only platform as part of the Big Ten's new TV deal with Fox, CBS and NBC.

And, as you might've guessed, the maize and blue faithful aren't taking it particularly well. Don't believe me? Just take a look at these responses from Michigan fans on Twitter.

Why the hell is Bowling Green a NIGHT game, and why are ANY games Peacock exclusive??? This is atrocious for Michigan football.

Why in the hell are we having the home opener on peacock.
— blue (@theblueautumn) May 31, 2023
Oh, and that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Michigan isn't alone in that fate, as both Penn State and Michigan State will also have games taking place only on Peacock within the first three weeks. While Penn State gets the Peacock treatment for its game against an FCS school (Delaware), Michigan State fans will have to subscribe to Peacock to watch the Spartans’ marquee non-conference game against Washington.

Soon enough, Ohio State will likely follow suit. For now, though, Buckeye fans can rest easy knowing their season opener will be televised on a national network rather than a streaming service.
