Cincinnati AM radio station 700 WLW was a big part of my life growing up, and in particular an afternoon comedy show hosted by Gary Burbank called, uh... "The Gary Burbank Show," I guess? My dad wielded dictatorial control over the car radio (as all dads do), and I was eternally grateful when I got to listen to goofy characters called Earl Pitts or game shows like "Sports or Consequences" instead of whatever maudlin 80's adult contemporary crap was being featured on the FM side of the dial.
Anyway, that's not the point. Gary Burbank was funny and silly and (most importantly) seemed to genuinely have a fantastic time doing what he was doing.
When I started doing the Dubcast 500 plus episodes ago, my only real goal was to try and make people laugh a little and feel like they were listening to a show that included them in on the fun of doing what we do at Eleven Warriors.
Hopefully we (myself and my cohosts over the years) accomplished that. We interviewed players, coaches, legends, Hollywood stars, answered God knows how many questions from you guys (seriously my favorite part of the whole show), dunked on Michigan repeatedly, and enjoyed two national championships. I know that I've had an incredible amount of fun with Luke, Sarah, Michael, Beau, Andy, and George, and I hope you did too.
As for me? Well, I may not be an official part of Eleven Warriors anymore, but I'll be around. I've got some ideas that I'm working on as we speak, and I'll share more about that soon. And if Michigan happens to get the death penalty or if Ohio State wins another natty, you'll definitely be hearing from me on 11W.
Thank you all so much for listening. On his last show, Gary Burbank closed it out with a song, and hell, if it was good enough for him, it's good enough for me.
Just remember: I love everybody, especially you.
