Chief Wahoo will be making his last rounds with the Indians in 2018.
The Indians, according to the New York Times, will disassociate themselves with the logo and will no longer wear it on their uniforms or caps following the 2018 season. The logo has been a flashpoint for the team for several years, drawing criticism and lawsuits from Native American groups who consider it racist.
It's been widely speculated that the Indians would drop the Chief in time for the 2019 All-Star Game, which is being held in Cleveland. Though the Chief has been slowly disappearing from sight before the 2019 All-Star game was given to the Indians. This is a very contentious subject, which is probably why the Indians are finally willing to part ways for good. The Indians have not used the Chief and his likeness in Arizona, where they hold Spring Training, for years.
This is a touchy subject. Mods, feel free to delete but I hope things can remain civil on here. I have faith in 11W nation.
