Yesterday, The Sun Sentinel reported FAU athletic director Pat Chun was in Columbus and had interviewed the man assumed to be at the top of his target list: Ohio State co-defensive coordinator Luke Fickell. Roughly 24 hours later, Tim May has put the kibosh on that:
Several sources close to Ohio State football program tell me Luke Fickell did NOT interview with Florida Atlantic yesterday.

Ah, the smoke-filled back parlor rooms, where US presidential candidates and FAU coaching hires are christened. Fickell makes about $100,000 more dollars a year than Carl Pelini made coaching FAU last year, so FAU was always going to have to spend to get him. Credit to Carl Pelini, however, whose resignation has made the FAU coaching hunt more interesting than it has ever been expected to be.
