After a bit of a delay, five-star guard D'Angelo Russell's paperwork is in to Ohio State. Russell, considered the crown jewel of Thad Matta's class, caused some anxiety because his paperwork had to go from prep school to guardian for signature, meaning he didn't sign Wednesday with fellow classmates Keita Bates-Diop, Jae-Sean Tate and Dave Bell.
Russell, a 6-5 shooting guard from Louisville, is a five-star prospect according to ESPN (No. 12 overall), Scout (No. 17) and Rivals (No. 21). He averaged 12.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game for Montverde Academy (Fla.) as a junior last season. During the summer, he won titles at Peach Jam with E1T1 Elite and the Adidas Nations championship with USA Blue. For good measure, Russell was co-MVP of the Nike Global Challenge.
